Community Service Workers

Community service workers are employed in many fields. Graduates may find themselves working in community development; community legal centres; women's or youth refuges; residential aged care services and community aged care services; and disability services including residential services, recreation programs, educational support services, advocacy, employment support services respite services and Community or Neighbourhood Houses or Centres. There are also employment opportunities for graduates in social housing; out of home care settings; youth services; juvenile residential facilities; alcohol and drug services; advocacy services; mental health (non clinical) settings; and aged or disability respite services. Certificate III in Community Services is a pathway to higher level qualifications in youth work, mental health and alcohol and other drugs work

Courses which are accredited meet the national standards as set down by the National Training Framework (NTF), the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and National quality assurance requirements such as the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). The courses are recognised throughout Australia and once you have finished your studies, by completing the relevant core and elective subjects, your efforts are recognised by achieving a qualification and receiving a formal parchment. Assessment is often conducted in real or simulated work places which measure your ability to perform competently in job focused outcomes.
