Certificate I in General Construction (Specialising in Bricklaying, Tiling and Plastering)

Certificates in vocational education studies provide the foundation skills for a career in construction and further graduates' chances of obtaining an apprenticeship. Vocational education studies are offered in construction; brick/blocklaying/tiling and plastering; furnishing; furnishing (floor covering & finishing); painting and decorating; signwriting; and plumbing.

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Award Courses - SATAC application process

• Applications for Semester 1 2009 must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
• Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.
• Applications for Places Available courses are made direct to the relevant campus and a separate application is required for each course an applicant wants to study.

• Certificate I in General Construction (Specialising in Bricklaying, Tiling and Plastering)
  Following OH&S policies and procedures; working effectively in the General Construction Industry; planning and organising work; conducting workplace communications; carrying out measurements and calculations; reading and interpreting plans and specifications; applying basic levelling procedures; plus specialist electives.

Award Courses - SATAC application process

• No minimum entry requirements

Successful completion of this course provides you with the Certificate I in General Construction (Specialising in Bricklaying, Tiling and Plastering). Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus. The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2050 in 2009. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.

Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
