Expected Employment Outcome Example

Enrolled nursing is an exciting and rewarding career that provides many opportunities. Enrolled nurses are employed in hospitals, community health services, residential care, private homes (home care), industrial sites, schools, medical practices and pathology services. Enrolled nurses are employed on a full time and part time basis and usually work a variety of shifts over a 7 day period.

Application Selection

Award Courses - SATAC application process

  • Applications for Semester 1 2009 must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
  • Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.
  • Applications for Places Available courses are made direct to the relevant campus and a separate application is required for each course an applicant wants to study.

This course is highly competitive. Applications and changes of preference to include this course for the first time will not be guaranteed equal consideration after the 28th November 2008. For selection purposes applicants are required to complete a TAFE SA Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS). Please phone 1800 882 661 to book into a session.   • Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 nursing)
    Acute and chronic health disorders; anatomy and physiology; clinical nursing and medication management; communications; compulsory “clinical placements”; contemporary nursing practice; law and ethics; and workplace safety.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Award Courses - SATAC application process

Any one of:
  • Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 2 (or equivalent)
  • Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 1 (or equivalent) and 1 year full time equivalent work experience in any area
  • Any Certificate II in same area
  • Any Certificate III
  • Satisfactory achievement in the TAFE SA Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS)
  • 2 years full time equivalent work experience in any area

Qualification/Certification

Successful completion of this course provides you with the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 nursing). Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Fees

Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus. The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2050 in 2009. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.

Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
