Expected Employment Outcome Example
All aspects of our lives are enriched by visual culture, craft and design. Graduates of these courses are equipped to excel in activities that embrace an artist’s and designer’s practice. Artists and designers may choose to practise independently, join industry enterprises or participate in public art commissions and community art activities. Opportunities include working in jewellery, sculpture, painting, ceramics, art photography, printmaking, galleries and in education.

Skills Covered
Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design
Artistic and creative thinking; practical skill development in a range of media; studio disciplines in ceramics, painting, drawing, photography, digital imaging, jewellery, printmaking and sculpture. Other skills include: art history and theory; drawing fundamentals; concept development; computer system fundamentals; professional practice; material studies; digital graphics; contemporary art studies; drawing for 3D design; OH&S; and design application. Many cross industry units included in the course contain explicit design content eg design solutions, product design and exhibition design. These units when co-delivered build cross discipline skills and broaden the learning experience.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Award - SATAC application process
Any one of:- Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 2 (or equivalent)
- Any Certificate III
- Satisfactory achievement in the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

Award - SATAC application process
- Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian
Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus.
The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
