Units covered include conducting pre-campaign testing; monitoring advertising production; scheduling advertisements; profiling the market; analysing consumer behaviour for specific markets; plus electives.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Any one of:
  • Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 2 (or equivalent)
  • Any Certificate III
  • Satisfactory achievement in the TAFE SA Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS)

Expected Employment Outcome Example

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed advertising skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of advertising contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others, however they typically report to a more senior advertising practitioner. Graduates can expect to be able to apply for jobs as account coordinator; art director; assistant account planner; copywriter; or in the media as an assistant buyer or planner.

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

  • Applications for the 2011 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.

  • Applications for 'Apply to Campus' courses are made direct to the relevant campus and a separate application is required for each course an applicant wants to study.

Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus.
