Skills Covered

Certificate IV in Marketing
This course is co-delivered with the Certificate IV in Advertising (Adelaide City only) and has a focus on the theoretical concepts of marketing. This will service as your foundation in further study in this field. Units from this course will give you credit towards the Bachelor of Business (Marketing & International Business) delivered through a University partnership. Units include making a presentation; profiling the market; analysing consumer behaviour for specific markets; conducting market research; plus electives.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Award - SATAC application process

Any one of:
  • Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 2 (or equivalent)
  • Any Certificate III
  • Satisfactory achievement in the TAFE SA Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS)

Expected Employment Outcome Example

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed marketing skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of marketing contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others, however they typically report to a more senior marketing practitioner. Graduates of this course can expect to apply for jobs as Direct Marketing Officer, Market Research Assistant, Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Officer and Public Relations Officer.

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Application Selection

Award - SATAC application process

  • Applications for the 2011 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
  • Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.
  • Applications for 'Apply to Campus' courses are made direct to the relevant campus and a separate application is required for each course an applicant wants to study.

Fees

Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus. The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2140 in 2010. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.

Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
