Expected Employment Outcome Example
Competition is strong for places in the Certificate II Course, largely due to the very positive employment outcomes for successful students. The course provides the foundation skills for a career in plumbing and enhances graduates' chances of obtaining an apprenticeship in this area. Apprenticeships are available in commercial (large construction), domestic and maintenance areas. The Certificate II course is strongly supported by large and small employers as well as the leading Group Apprenticeship Scheme employers.
The industry consists of self-employed tradespeople, as well as medium to large contractors. Demand is linked with activity in the construction industry. However, unlike other building trades, downturns in building activity have less effect on plumbers because of the work available in renovation and maintenance. Demand is also more stable because, by law, certain jobs must be performed by plumbers.
Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.
