Successful applicants are required to commence at Certificate II level unless they demonstrate the core competencies of Certificate II in Information Technology by either successful completion of Certificate II equivalency test, relevant work experience or study. Expected Employment Outcome Example
It is difficult to identify one specific vocational outcome for this qualification because of the 'general' nature of this qualification and the diverse array of unit choices and streams available. Graduates exiting this qualification will be likely to secure employment in an ICT 'generalist' role with useful skills and knowledge across several of the specialist streams. The judicious choice of stream and electives units would provide for more specialist vocational outcomes associated with the streams.
Possible job roles include computer technician; data administration.

A range of introductory technical skills to support information technology activities in the workplace at advanced IT user or introductory technical support levels including writing documentation for users; selecting, installing and configuring and operating system environment; diagnostic testing; OH&S as it relates to the information technology industry; providing advice to clients. Certificate IV in Information Technology (General)
Skills and knowledge needed to be effective in a range of information technology support roles within organisations including determining client business expectations and needs; automating processes; developing and presenting a feasibility report; creating technical documentation; locating equipment, system and software faults; managing simple projects; maintaining ethical conduct; plus specialist subjects. Award - SATAC application process
- Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian
Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus.
The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
