Successful applicants are required to commence at Certificate II level unless they demonstrate the core competencies of Certificate II in Information Technology by either successful completion of Certificate II equivalency test, relevant work experience or study. Contact a campus for details. Some specialised subjects may differ between campuses.

Skills Covered

Certificate III in Information Technology (Network Administration)
This course covers a range of introductory technical skills to support information technology activities in the workplace at advanced IT user or introductory technical support levels. They will learn to administer and configure a network operating system; administer network peripherals; create user documentation; determine and action network problems; install and manage network protocols; install and optimise system software; provide basic system administration; provide network systems administration; run standard diagnostic tests; and use advanced features of computer applications. Other areas covered include OH&S as it relates to the information technology industry; and providing advice to clients.

Application Selection

Award - SATAC application process

  • Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
  • Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees

Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus. The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.

Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
