Successful applicants are required to commence at Certificate II level unless they demonstrate the core competencies of Certificate II in Information Technology by either successful completion of Certificate II equivalency test, relevant work experience or study. Expected Employment Outcome Example
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to be competent in programming and software development. Graduates could work as a specialist in the area of programming including the ICT and programming aspects of games development. The qualification has a strong ICT base. Possible job titles include: Games Developer; Games Programmer; Middleware Programmer; Programming/Software Engineer; Software Applications Specialist; Software Architect; Software Design Engineer; Software Developer; Software Developer/Programmer; Software Development Engineer; Software Engineer; Xbox Programmer.

Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming)
Teaches a broad range of skills in software development including: Web page development - using XHTML and JavaScript; Desk-top application development - using C#.NET and Java with business and game based projects; Database skills - using SQL, mySQL and Oracle; Systems Analysis and Design - using Object Oriented approaches with UML, Requisite Pro and Rational Rose; Industry preparation – Team software development using Subversion and project management covering PMBOK and using Microsoft Project; and Personal Development – identification of personal skills, industry employment analysis and ethical conduct in the workplace.
Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development)
This course teaches a broad range of skills in software development including: Web page development - using XHTML, AJAX, J2EE (JSP, Servlets), .NET(ASP, C#), Open Source (PHP, mySQL) and including security aspects such as SSL and digital certificates; Mobile application development - using J2ME (java midlets) and C#.NET with business and game based projects; Database skills – advanced database design using open source products DBDesigner and mySQL , use of XML, ensuring business continuity through database recovery under Linux (Centos); Systems Design - using Object Oriented approaches with UML and design patterns; and Industry preparation – Quality management of software, strategic planning and a group software development project.

Award - SATAC application process
- Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian
Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus.
The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
