Successful applicants are required to commence at Certificate II level unless they demonstrate the core competencies of Certificate II in Information Technology by either successful completion of Certificate II equivalency test, relevant work experience or study. Expected Employment Outcome Example
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in planning, technical design, implementation and management of complex and high level ICT network security systems and components.
Possible job roles include database security specialist; IT security administrator; network and systems manager.

Skills Covered
Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking)
Skills, knowledge and application to be effective in network management including determining and confirming client business expectations and needs; creating scripts for networking; automating processes; developing and presenting a feasibility report; creating technical documentation; installing network hardware to a network; installing software to networked computers; installing and configuring a network; installing and maintaining a server; monitoring and administering network security; supporting system software; locating equipment, system and software faults; maintaining ethical conduct; and managing simple projects. A number of other specialised technical skills are taught.
Certificate III in Information Technology
A range of introductory technical skills to support information technology activities in the workplace at advanced IT user or introductory technical support levels including writing documentation for users; selecting, installing and configuring and operating system environment; diagnostic testing; OH&S as it relates to the information technology industry; providing advice to clients. Specialist subjects are available for Networks and Software Applications streams. Please note: Some specialised subjects may differ between campuses. Contact campuses for details.
Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Network Security)
Building an Intranet; configuring an internet gateway; communications; cost management; developing system infrastructure design plans; guiding the application of project integrative processes; human resources management; installing and managing complex networks; managing network security; preparing disaster recovery and contingency plans; designing and building an enterprise local area network; installing and maintaining valid authentication processes; procurements and scope; producing network/communication design; quality management; risk management; and trouble shooting and resolving network problems.

Application Selection
Award - SATAC application process
- Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian
Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus.
The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
