Expected Employment Outcome Example

This qualification has been designed to develop the floristry design and first line management skills of those working in the floristry industry. It applies to those who are owner/managers of a floristry outlet with responsibility for the managerial and financial operation of the small business. Possible job roles include small business manager; floristry designer.

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Certificate III in Floristry
Creating floristry designs using various techniques and base media; and minimising theft.

Certificate IV in Floristry
Applying point of sale handling procedures; applying product knowledge to meet customer needs; applying safe working practices; assembling and preparing floristry products; balancing register/terminal; communicating in the workplace; creating a display for small businesses; creating custom made, advanced and large scale floristry designs; creating floristry designs using a base medium; creating floristry designs using hand tied and wiring techniques; implementing floristry products and services plan; managing finances; minimising theft; monitoring and managing business operations; operating retail equipment; performing routine housekeeping duties; performing stock control procedures; preparing and displaying floristry stock; providing a safe working environment; providing services to floristry customers; recommending floristry products and services; researching business opportunities; selling products and services; working effectively in a retail environment and caring for floristry stock and merchandise; and electives.

Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Application Selection

Award - SATAC application process

  • Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
  • Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees

Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus. The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.

Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
