- A satisfactory police check and/or DECS criminal history screening will be required at the expense of the student prior to commencing a vocational work placement or gaining employment. All students are required to complete vocational placements (unless currently employed in an appropriate setting) and be assessed in the workplace.
Expected Employment Outcome Example
Graduates of child care and related community service courses can work with children, from babies to 12-year-old children in day-long care, occasional care, family day care, out-of-school-hours care and vacation care.
Possible job roles include director, group coordinator, group leader, outside school hours care coordinator, outside school hours care worker, program leader, service director, service manager, team leader, and vacation care coordinator.
Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

11 core units: establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children; foster physical development in middle childhood; foster social development in middle childhood; support emotional and psychological development in middle childhood; foster cognitive development in middle childhood; manage children's services workplace practice to address regulations and quality assurance; establish and implement plans for developing cooperative behaviour; plan and implement inclusion of children with additional needs; develop and implement policy; design, implement and evaluate programs and care routines for children; work in partnership with families to provide appropriate care for children; plus 7 electives.

Award - SATAC application process
- Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian
Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus.
The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
