Expected Employment Outcome Example
Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as: senior manager in a large hospitality enterprise or owner or manager of a hospitality enterprise. Possible job titles include: food and beverage manager; area manager or operations manager; rooms division manager; executive housekeeper; secretary or manager; executive chef; cafe owner; or manager and motel owner or manager.
Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.
Skills Covered
Certificate III in Hospitality
This certificate builds on Certificate II skills and knowledge to carry out tasks such as preparing and serving drinks at a bar and tables, preparing and serving espresso coffee, providing reception or front desk services, providing housekeeping and room services, providing gaming services and serving food, wine, cocktail and other beverages at tables. This will assist students to work in restaurants, hotels/pubs, motels, catering operations, clubs, cafés and specialist coffee shops.
Certificate IV in Hospitality
This certificate provides students with the skills and knowledge to carry out tasks such as supervising the operation of a bar ,restaurant, coffee shop supervising activities of a front desk or reception, supervising restaurant and banqueting services, providing stock ordering and control, budgeting and financial control, supervising and managing gaming operations. This will assist students to manage and supervise staff in restaurants, hotels/pubs, motels, catering operations, clubs, cafés and specialist coffee shops.
Diploma of Hospitality
Providing quality customer service; managing quality customer service; managing finances within a budget; developing and updating legal knowledge required for business compliance; managing workplace diversity; developing and implementing operational plans; establishing and conducting business relationships; establishing and maintaining an OH&S system; plus electives.
Advanced Diploma of Hospitality
Managing physical assets; managing financial operations; recruiting, selecting and inducting staff; leading and managing people; monitoring staff performance; developing and managing marketing strategies; plus electives

Application Selection
Award - SATAC application process
- Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian
Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees
Charges vary between courses and subjects and are based on a rate per hour. Concessions may be available to holders of certain government concession cards, and in some circumstances fees may be paid by instalment. A brochure detailing the refund of fees policy is available at each campus.
The standard TAFE SA fee for State Government-subsidised courses undertaken by students enrolled in two consecutive semesters is capped at $2,210 in 2011. This fee cap does not apply to all courses.
Students are generally expected to purchase their own textbooks, personal equipment, uniforms and stationery.
