Pre-requisites You must have completed LMFFM2001B: Use furniture making sector hand and power tools prior to beginning the course or provide evidence that you are competent with hand and power tools.

From second term and every term there after Continuing/re-enrolling students need to enrol by a given timeframe - then the course is open for new enrolments. PLEASE NOTE: A minimum of 8 students is required in each class for it to commence with a maximum of 12 students. Classes fill up quickly; students will be enrolled on a first in first serve basis. A waiting list will be taken for future classes to be arranged depending on student demand.
Additional Cost: · ALL STUDENTS are required to wear appropriate safety glasses and footwear while using the workshops. Plus an extra cost of $5.50 charge for student ID card if student does not have a current card for this year (payment is only required once for the whole year).

On the first class, participants are to report at the Main Client Service Centre Reception where your teacher will collect you and take you to class. If you are late, please check with the Security staff to locate your class.

Skills Covered

Woodwork
Beginners will be required to use hand and power tools to make an oilstone box before proceeding with a small project of your own choice.

Students will extend their knowledge and skills in joinery including tool care, fixing joints, built-in cupboards, benches etc. Students will become more experienced in the use of: cutting joints, finishing surfaces, cutting straight and compound angles, jointing materials when making their own projects. Use of workshop machines is limited and machining is carried out by your lecturer.
