Building and Furnishing Trades and Furniture Design International Career Groups
These courses prepare graduates for work on commercial and industrial projects as well as low rise residential buildings. Students will also gain the skills to work in an architectural or design office preparing plans and documents.
Graduates from these areas have rewarding and challenging career options in carpentry, building construction, joinery, cabinet making, furniture making, furniture polishing, floor sanding, glass and glazing, wood machining and upholstery. Graduates of vocational education certificates at TAFE SA may have an increased chance of securing employment as an apprentice in those sectors where an apprenticeship is available.
These courses will enable graduates to apply for employment as an assistant decoration consultant in specialised wholesale or retail outlets. Graduates may also seek employment with independent interior decoration and design consultancies.
